Hi,

Looking to pick up a 04-07 KJ. Wanted 4x4 but found a clean 3.7L 4x2 Auto with 120k miles for $4,500.

Not sure what kind of a "deal" this is. Seems about average, right?
I see prices all over the place from $3,800 to $7,000 (2007, 80k miles, 4x4, sunroof, CRD or 3.7L, etc)

I'll be daily driving this (50miles per day) as well driving it 200miles each way to my deer lease (all paved roads) about 10 times per year.

That's my intro...

Thoughts?

that's really not bad of a price.
prices vary depending on location.
For that mileage at my state, it'll be higher a few k's.

of course I have no idea what the condition is like.

I just checked San Francisco and Los Angeles craigslist and they are all higher for the same quality (judging by the pics).

This one is very clean for a 10 year old 120,000 mile car.
It's not all beat up and ragged out.
But it's not 3yrs old 40,000 mile nice either.

My only concern(s) are the "typical" mechanical issues with these Jeeps.
Missfire codes
Overheating/Head Gasket issues
Those are a couple of the things that popped out as I cruised this site and lostkj.
Anything else I should be prepared for?

I'm already thinking about doing the JBA 2.5 lift but I don't want it to ride like a bread truck.

Not that great of a deal especially for a two wheel drive If comparing 4 wheel drives to 2 wheels knock about 1750-2000 off the price

Depends on how it was maintained
As far as ride as long as you don't use spacer liftes ride will be way better than new stock was, even with Ironman or OME. The JBA coilover rides like a dream

So $2,500 - $2,750 for a 2WD?
I've yet to see anything anywhere THAT cheap.
Even the ones that have blown up motors and don't run want $2,000
I've looked at a few in the $3,500 - $3,800 range and that have been RAGGED
had like ~200k miles and had multiple mechanical issues.

I guess I'm trying to talk myself into this being a "good" or at least "fair/average" deal.

I thought about getting one of the ragged ones for $3,200 knowing that it already needs a driver side shock then adding the JBA for $1,800 getting me to $5,000 with a fresh suspension.

That lifted one may have $2,000 worth of suspension upgrades and wheels on it.

Would not touch that lifted one with a 20 foot pole, its been hammered I'll bet and run in the ground. Spacer lift to boot I bet

2 wheel drives just don't bring that much when it comes time to sell. Was one here for sale couple of months back, 04 2 wheel drive, loaded , leather, sunroof, 6 disc, etc etc with 82000 miles and sold for 3450.00. I called 10 minutes after it sold, was going to have it to run around town

x2. What does it tell ya that
1. It's covered in mud
2. The seller used that as a selling pic
Seems high quality. :happy175: Looks like something Budke would've done.

I went ahead and bought it
Here's some pics: Jeep Liberty - Pictures

I got tired of looking and everything I was seeing out there less than this was C-R-A-P

I wanted 4by didn't NEED it.
I'm not going heavy muddin
Just need good ground clearance for when I go off-road in the acreage
Dirt roads and such

Now it's time for me to read all the stickies and the last years worth of posts on here so I totally go through this Jeep and try and make it bulletproof

what's up with the window regulators giving out?

NEVER pay for someone else's Jeep mods...unless they are known to you personally.

Glad someone else said something, I was beginning to think I missed something:shrug::icon_lol:

Title says 2004
I hope it's a 2004!
I was only looking at 2004 - 2007 models and this is what I ended up with.
Only a day later and I'm already questioning the usefulness of a 2WD
Not wanting to go King of the Hammers but it would be nice to drive on the beach/sand.

Looks the part. You won't have an issue with window regulators then. Definitely wouldn't touch sand with a 2WD.
