Not a good day for Mr. Darcy. We were in a hit and run today on my way to work. :( This is definitely one of those days I am REALLY glad I drive a jeep. Stupid idiot comes flying over a little hill on the wrong side of the road and slams right into me head on. And when I say into me, I really mean under me and now his fancy little supercharged civic has the imprint of a liberty on his hood. Then the :favorites68: peels out and flies off down the road. Luckily for me and Mr. Darcy when he pulled out from under my front end his license plate fell off. Now there's a warrant out for his arrest. Stupid f*****er messed with the wrong girl and now he is going to pay, literally. The cop who I filed the report with told me that he has full insurance and that will be used to replace my bumper.

So now I'm just at home waiting for the cops to call me back to come in for more questioning and get this thing going.

Honda & Handcuffs!

WOW what a situation (for him) this deserves some photos!
Took off maybe because he was an drunk looser!
This is not the first time of hearing about plate left behind! O:)
Keep us posted..photos appreciated! get one of his too if u can!:icon_twisted:
Your Jeep will require a complete inspection.
Unfortunately, with head on, I doubt it will be just the front bumper.
Hmm...time for an ARB Bumper!

Jerk. :disgust: Real glad you're okay too.

My old Ranger was involved in hit and run once too... kinda. Some kid in mommy's Intrepid hit my parked truck on the street one night, and he ran. But, he must have had a guilty conscious or his co-pilot talked him into returning because he eventually came back after the cops showed up to take my report.

Here we are on the road where it happened. Notice the tire marks not from braking, but from peeling out to run off.

My damage. Really not bad. Lucky I wasn't moving and he slid right under me. If I see him on the road I'll grab some pics :)

Yep time for an ARB bumper and you don’t have to weary about that next time.

I am a nervous wreck this morning! It's a big day for Mr. Darcy, I'm going to court.

Quick update on the whole situation... The insurance wouldn't file my claim because they said the guy sold his car and was no longer insured with him. They wouldn't tell me whether it was before or after I was hit. I decided to take the owner of the car (guy listed on registration and "insurance") to small claims court to see if I could get the money for the new bumper. I don't have $1,200 to pay for that, especially when I need new tires, new control arms, and I still haven't fixed the AC!

So, today's the day. I kind of hope the guy doesn't show up and I automatically win. But if I win, I honestly have no idea how I'm supposed to get my money. Is it just a pride thing? Anyone ever go to small claims? Do they help you at all?

even if you win in small claims court it's not like the state will help you collect. you'll get a judgement against the person then you'll spend years trying to get someone to collect it for you. don't ask me how I know.

The Jeep was just hungry for some Japanese snacks! Hope everything in small claims works out for you. I wonder if there is anything else your insurance can do? If he was insured at the time of the incident, they should pay for it, especially if he is at fault. I think that's how it works in MA, anyway.
