HELP! need a new front driveshaft

My front driveshaft went out and I cant seem to find a new one for my 02 Lib sport. It seems to be a common problem as I call some dealers and they say that the shaft is 2 months on back order. Anyone else come across this? If anyone can give me a leed on a new one I would appreciate it. I dont want a salvage one knowing that there is a common problem with the shaft. I have 102k on mine and dont want the same thing to happen again.

Do tell. By 'going out', what do you mean? What happens to it?

The most common problem is that the rubber boot around the CV joint becomes torn....allows water and junk to get in and rust and damage the bearings...thus leading your drive shaft to "Free ballin' it" and moving all around..to eventually ceasing or tearing apart.

keep in mind that the liberty uses 5 different legths of front drive shafts.. so be sure and measure your shaft from friction weld to friction weld (those raised creases on each end of the middle bar) and contact eric with your length needed and he'll get you set up.

It started clicking loudly when in 4wd. At first I thought is was the CVs but it turns out it was the driveshaft. I tried to get ahold of eric but this whole "backordered" is causing a problem for everyone. Does anyone know if this is a very common problem? I would assume it would have to be if it is out of stock everywhere.
