3.7L making a loud his

My 2003 kj 2wd is hising when idle but when i hit the gas it stops for a quick second. Does anybody have a i deer. and i have checked the exhaust pipes.

I don't have any deer I do have some ideas

have you checked vaccuum lines etc around the motor?

loose connections to anything including the air intake?

coming from engine area or?

what did you have to eat last night?

yes it does sound like it is coming from the engine area. and idr what ate but i have been sitting still and ppl come to the window and tell me that my tire is going flat.

You are probably hearing the air intake hiss. Open the hood and use hands to cover over the intake snorkel, and see if that is the sound. This hiss is normal as it does suck in lots of air.

Mudd has it,I think vac hose loose/busted.

i checked all that and its still doing it i think the driverside header has a pin hole in it. could that be it

Pins don't put holes in cast iron.



If you have any map gas, turn it on (very low) and run it around all of the vacuum lines. when the engine revs up, there's you're problem

Its a Vacuum leak like many others have said..

well i bought it used and idk what the ppl did with it b4 i got so ya i could have a small hole in the header anything can happen with everythang so...

Typically an exhaust leak wont just 'hiss'.

not even if its a small pin hole like? but if i cant find how to stop or where its coming from ill take it to the shop

Think about this

When you breathe in through a straw, it goes hiss.
When you fart, it goes POP POP POP. Sometimes fast, which would be the high pitched ones, sometimes just like that, sometimes just one pop.
If you hiss when you fart you have problems.
Such is the exhaust on your KJ

Its more then likely not that ( an exhaust leak from what you say it sounds like but???
