So i'm on my 7th or 8th throttle position sensor. Every time it rains or snows my check engine light pops on p0123(TPS voltage too high) and fries the TPS. I'm guessing its a bare wire somewhere but my mechanic has failed to find anything of the sort twice.
Also...this just happened, when I have it in 2wd the gauges say Part Time, like its is 4wd. When i put it in 4wd the Part time light turns off. Was my jeep made in china??? can anyone offer any insight on what these problems could be???

Probably was made in china.

The 4wd light is just s sensor on the side of the tcase that goes bad. Not a big deal to replace.

Not to sure whats going on with the TPS. When it rains, if you open the hood is anything wet under there? There is a seal along the back side of the hood(on the cowl) that keeps water out. Check to make sure thats in.

Still yet, alittle water in the engine bay shouldnt make the TPS do that.

second time my p0123 has gone off after replacing the part...i know the plug is broken (being held on with strap ties) but otherwise everything is fine...reviving this thread to see if anyone else has this issue or has fixed it. my issue is unrelated to rain.

There should only be 5V coming from the source wire, you have to measure that so see If it is too high BEFORE entering the TPS, at the harness. The TPS is "like" a potentiometer, in that, when it is moved, voltage goes UP as the throttle opens. This is also how you can oval your mount holes, and rotate (adjust) the TPS for better performance at WOT.

If the Volts are 5V at the harness, before the TPS, then it is not the supply line. You then have the signal back to the ECU, and ground. One would guess, that since it is blowing the TPS, the supply line is too high. A short in the harness where they mate up, can cause a short if there is moisture getting in, shorting the +5 to either the signal or ground.

You stated the plug is broken, does that mean it doesn't SNAP closed, or it doesn't mate-up properly?
