that I'm actually going to get the two-tone paint job on the KJ. I'm still kind of trying to figure out what I want to do with the front bumper though, whether I should leave the silver center piece silver and then do the Khaki portions black to match the rest of the vehicle, or just have him paint the whole thing black. If anyone feels like doing a photoshop of the options there, feel free, I'll post a picture below.

My friend's PS of a side view of what I plan to do, which I know many of you have already seen but which I will post again anyway...

Im a fan of the silver center section, black lowers like you had pictured. Leave the hardware silver though. Contrasting hardware is cool.

Yeah, I did a manip with the silver and the non-silver, and I'm leaning towards the non. Also, ignore the running board in the first image, I was just messing around with that and was too lazy to resave.

I've never been a fan of putting bed liner on the lower part of the vehicle.

It's probably because every vehicle I see with it has rust underneith. It's like a poorman's fix to rust repair.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen, in person, a nice vehicle with it on there.

Now if it were color matched and applied to a brand new vehicle to prevent rust, then I'd probably like it. I just don't know.

get rid of the running boards and paint the center piece black, I'm picky about having too many colors...black silver and khaki is too much.
My running boards are sitting in the back yard collecting dust.... I was turned off by them when I tried to take them off, most of the bolts broke right off with hardly any pressure...plus they get in the way if I want to work on the vehicle.

I've never had a problem with the running boards but I was thinking of having them painted black as well (that was just a very poor PS of them). As for the silver, I really don't like the silver in the center so I'll probably have the whole bumper painted black. And yes, it would be glossy, like the grille, and I'll probably get a new bug shield as well--one that isn't so faded. Unfortunately I can't seem to add the gloss in photoshop to get a really accurate image.

Biggest deal with the running boards is the loss of ground clearance.

I really like the 2 color scheme. Really sharp looking.

BUT.... you should lose the ghetto running boards.

This is just my opinion of course.

I bedlined mine(minus the roof, that came later after the hail damage) with 124miles on the odometer, the main reason was to keep the rock chips from showing since I drove down a gravel road every day and my KJ was all black at the time(with white primer:mad:).

The last photo looked really good. Khaki and black do go well together. I agree, no running boards. For what its worth, all they ever do for me is bruise my shins.

It's funny, my friend kept bugging me to lift my KJ so when I took the running boards off I drove over to his place and the first thing he said was "Hey bout time you lit that thing" lol, it's ctually looks higher w/o the boards.

Well I use the running boards a lot when I'm cleaning it because I'm not very tall, so I was thinking of doing them black as well. They help me reach the sunroof without the risk of standing on a chair that could tip over and dent it xD And it's going to be painted...I'm not sure what you guys mean by bedlining it, but the only thing I can think of when you guys say that is like the liner in our pickup truck. I have a few rust spots on the lower portions of the doors so I'm figuring that will help put a stop to that, as mentioned earlier, but I'm not sure on that. As for polishing the bug shield, I do use Maguier's Black Magic on it, but the problem is that it's just extremely faded and plus it's only held on by one clip these days, so it just in general needs to be replaced.

Paint it then and get rid of the silver. FWIW If I need to reach the top of mine I open the door and stand on the bottom door sill or whatever you call it and grab the oh crap handle and then I can reach on top good. It works good. Try it.
