But just a little.
Sunday was a nice day and at around 10am my wife tells me "I feel like fishing" so I thought screw let's go. I strapped the rods onto the roof rails got ice and enough drinks and everything else, we head to san luis pass and it was nice, bad thing we never made it to the water, I freaking got stuck in the sand......TWICE!!!!!
The sand didn't even look that loose but my tires are just plain bold, a nice 87 jeep wrangler lifted up with some thirty something M/T pulled us out both times I asked him how do I owed him and he told me he was doing it just for fun, so thursday I bought some hella 500FF and probably tonight I'm gonna order the front tow hooks, I really needed them yesterday.

Like I said I got dissapointed of the libby but come on my tires aint worth ?#*@ so I'm gonna go with the AT2's and the lift that I'm waiting on and I'm gonna go back..
And as soon as I'm done paying the libby I'm gonna start with the crazy idea of getting the shafts, t case, front differential, bla bla bla

But o well so that was my sunday

Jeepin thru the wilds of America
Where I am from (MD) we have Assateague Island where we are ALLOWED to drive on the sand. You have to have a 1'X1'x1" plank and other sand rescue gear. I had a Toyota 4X4 at the time and never got stuck. We did have to pull others out. The biggest trick is to air DOWN your tires to about 15psi.
AND NEVER< NEVER park at the waters edge...they have tides there you know! we watched a wrangler get washed out with the tide. The guy was with the jeep for most of the day, but he drove off to get more beer with someone else..He said he was only gone 2 hours. He had to be gone longer than that, we think he hooked up with the chicks in the chevy that was parked farther down the beach! Cause thats the direction he came from after beach resuce was hookin up the DEEP JEEP! That was kinda fun to watch, they HAD to act as if someone WAS in the Jeep...I always wondered if that guy had to pay for all that rescue effort.. They had two boats and several patrol jeeps and alot of people. We know he had to pay for the tow.

That's when you should have known you were doomed. When your wife wants to go fishing, you should know that fate has something really horrible in store for you.

Dont bother even thinking about a 4wd conversion
the basics needed will kill you
starting at the trans
-out put shaft will probably need to be changed or at least housing
-T-case will be needed ,including all linkage and related hard ware
-new drive shafts ,rear will be shorter on a 4wd
-front diff ,including CV shafts and related hard ware
then you will need to reflash you the trans and ecm to work with the 4wd I think
you are probably looking at 3-5K to do the Job

considering that you could sell yours for 6-8K
add to that the 3-5K to convert to 4wd and you are looking at between 9 and 13K
you can pick up a good low milage 4wd KJ for 13-15K or less

also the Aussie in the rear will not really help in the sand ,may even make it worse
the problem is that your heavier front end is digging in and not staying on top

About the conversion...well I see rear shaft for $100, axle with shafts for $550, ****** $500, t-case $250, even if s spent 4K to 5K ill still have an IFS (which doesn't bother me), yea I could sell it and buy me a 4wd, but I honestly don't want a car payment for 5 years again,so I rather spend 4K or 5 buying parts as I run into them than having $9000 debt. I got a couple months left on my libby , and once I'm done ill start buying things here and there, I'm in no rush,

And as for the sand... Well I'm getting a high lift with the lift mate and some sand ramps....screw it lol I know I'm gonna get stuck :D but at least I aint gonna be waiting for someone to pull me out :)
Also I was reading somewhere to lower the tire pressure to 15psi is that right? What about when I'm done with the sand and back on the road will I make it ok to the nearest gas station, cuz I know does cigarrette ligther air pumps aint gonna do the job :(
Don't hate on the 2wd....its still fun :D

You can limp to a gas station sure
or you can get a good compressor and tank set up ,about $500 or less
or you can go CO2
I have CO2 and it is 10X better than 99% of the 12V compressors on the market ,Oasis is the only one that can compete and at a rough cost of about $2,000 ,yes I said $2,000, to set up right not really worth it

I often come up with used CO2 bottles
Then I get them Hydro-tested and filled
I will sell them for about $100 problem for you is they can not be shipped

Look at the Power Tank web site
it has all you need to know about CO2
even with a 5# bottle you can run an impact to change tires
or air up tires
IIRC 5# of CO2 is like 50 gallons of air at 120 psi

^^^Liberty84....your question about airing down and up. I am carrying 2 compressors (don't ask), a Cambell Hausfield cordless (semi-pos) but works and a Master Flo MP50. That one is pretty good for a portable compressor and much more powerful and hooks directly to your battery. Not the same thing as on board air or something but will get the job done for around $60 or so. Forgot exactly what I paid for it. Don't get the type that plug into the power outlet.

Airing down in sand makes a world of difference.

Just my experience.

Mmmm I didn't know that they made those that go strait to the battery, I'm gonna look into that too...

Thankx man

Idk much about offroading but 15psi on a tire that u would normally run @ 35psi sounds a little to much to the extreme isn't it? Or is 15 ok?

15 is a lot better than 35 in sand.....you won't hurt the tire or pop the bead at 15psi......just keep moving.
