    Spare Tire Relocation

Been away for awhile but when I recently had my spare off to repaint the holder I was shocked at how loose the rear end was on wet roads, mostly going up hills with sharp trurns. I thought something was terribly wrong with the tires but then remembered that the weight of the tire was missing...

    More HP?

It is raining here today and when I came home I poped the hood and noticed that there was water on the baffle/air deflector you removed. So I'm wondering if I was driving 70mph on an Interstate for a few hours while it was raining and not having a baffle there could be a real bad thing.

    weird idling

Proper idle in park with engine at normal operating temperature should be 650rpm. I'm new to the Libby world but I had a similar problem in a Ford and it was the IAC (Idle air control).

Power driver seat for an 04 Libby

Anyone who has one or can get one from a local salvage yard in their area who would be willing to take the seat off the rails to lessen shipping. I would be more than willing to reimburse you for your time in paying you for the difference in the shipping cost so that a fellow board member...

What disengages when you stop? (powertrain)

Follow up to the original post: For the first two days I drove with o/d off and then on until such time I could hear the clunk come back. When it did I would turn off o/d off and drive awhile and then try it again with o/d on. As of yesterday I have not heard the clunk with o/d on under any...

What disengages when you stop? (powertrain)

Well after driving last night and doing a lot of running around this morning with o/d off I went out this evening to dinner and forgot to turn the o/d off ... guess what? .... I did a 20 mile round trip city driving and it did not clunk once. After I realized the o/d was on I tried to make it...

What disengages when you stop? (powertrain)

Just took a quick 6 mile round trip around town with o/d off .... no clunks! Definite difference though in shifting and running higher rpms than with o/d on. Also did a quick google search on greasing the splines and many say that solved the problem. They say when the drive shaft...

What disengages when you stop? (powertrain)

Can you remove the slack or lessen the severity of it? Also, will this slack eventually lead to failure in the drivetrain somewhere?

What disengages when you stop? (powertrain)

It drives me frigging nutz too! I'll try turning the o/d off and see if that helps. Let me know if the reprogramming the tranny computer helps.

What disengages when you stop? (powertrain)

I've read all the clunk threads and can't seem to figure out what exactly disengages in or to the rear axle when the vehicle is almost at a complete stop that makes the clunk sound. What also is confounding is there seems to be as many Libby's that don't make the sound as there are those that...

    mfg warranty question

I just called Jeep Customer Service and they transferred the remaining warranty over to me. You need to know date of purchase, VIN, odometer reading at time of purchase, selling dealer/owner name and address and a credit card if there is a charge for transferring the warranty ($100 - $150 I do...

    Power driver seat install question.

I can now confirm that the seat is mounted to the manual tracks by 4 bolts (right front side, left front side, back right, back left) and the seat will come off. The how-to said you need a four wire connector which I have and will just need to buy a fuse to bring power to the connector...

    Power driver seat install question.

The only thing I'd like for my 04 Libbby to have is a power driver seat. I've read the how-to and seems to be a piece of cake to install. I'm wondering if anyone would know if it would be possible to take my cloth seat (pristine condition) and put it on a donor power seat. Also wondering what...

    Driveline and Steering Component Lubrication

Page 290 2004 Libby manual: U-joints are sealed and do not require lubrication. Prop shafts, yokes, ball joints and driveline and steering compnents may be provided with grease fittings for lubrication. Is there a how-to anywhere about what needs done and where these grease fittings are...

    Stealership...Now I Know Why

A few years ago I had a Ford Windstar that was always serviced at the dealership and about a week after an oil change I noticed some oil drops on the garage floor. Went back to the dealer and they put it up on the rack .... about 20 minutes later a service writer showed me a quote for $1,800...

Libby without a spare on the back?

I went to walmart today and saw a libby that had taken the spare tire mount off the back door and had covered up the area with a Jeep logo plate. When I looked in the back window I saw a spare, definitely not a full spare, on the passenger side mounted upright. When I got home I grabbed a tape...

Hard Rain/4 Full-Time/I did it Again
