I suffered the dreaded failed window regulator the other day in my driver's side front door!

I ordered a new complete regulator online for around $40.

After disassembling the door to replace it I found it wouldn't work.

To my amazement I found out there are two types of regulators that were used, one with a "ball" and one with a "hole".

Of course I got the wrong one and the correct one goes for over $125....

So, beware to all who suffer the dreaded window falling into the door. Make sure you get the correct part before replacing it!

the whole window regulator or just the plastic window clip?
if your regulator is still working just replace the window clip. aftermarket ones are all metal now.

I could only find metal ones for the pre-2/25/06 version. Will that work? It appears to be the only change in the system.

My window goes off balance and "sticks". I've tried lubricating it, but I think this plastic piece isn't holding it right.

check whether you have the metal pin tab that holds the glass in place correctly.

Sorry, I can't comment on whether a replacement for the earlier year would work.

If there is supposed to be a piece that holds the glass to the plastic by inserting through the hole in the glass then I can tell you now that it is missing. Having one there would help tremendously.

Those are very helpful pictures. My 2007 has the "hole" style. I think I got lucky when I ordered my little bit of plastic since I got the right one.

Huh...says the hole is not compatible with the original style, but I can't for the life of me see why not. Maybe it's compatible with a window with some duct tape covering the hole? :insane:
