Where do I start!?

I recently got off of Active Duty in the Marine Corps and I need to pick up a hobby. After I wrecked my pontiac it seemed like the perfect occasion to buy a Jeep.

I have a '05 KJ 4x4 3.7L. I want to do what I can to this thing to make it kick a little bit more ass. I'm looking to lift it a bit, put some armor on it and take it to the trails but I have no idea where to begin.

I'm far from being a mechanic, mind you. Looking to the minds of you KJ owners to help me out.

Welcome! You came to the right forum for modification! Take a look around on here for the info. There is a TON. Also I suggest essential skid plates first.

I bought my 2007 last May and knew absolutely zilch about it. Thanks to hanging around here I am up to at least "Apprentice" level. This forum has saved me from any number of mistakes, some of which would have been expensive lessons to learn. You are not as far from becoming a "mechanic" as you might think.
