Sorry I'm new to KJ's. What so special about the Moab wheels? Are they wider? How would I know if I found a set?

Thanks

Well If I remember right the Moab's are 8" rim and most want a wider tire anyways.
So yes with 245's or bit wider, you dont want tire rub, which you will get if not lifted.
& still may have to pound the pinch weld etc,
I'm not the tire expert here others will chime in tho..

To start stock wheels are 7 inches wide and 5 inches of backspacing
WHEN LIFTED a 7 inch wide wheel with 4 inches of backspacing moves the tire/ wheel out 1 inch to sit at the edge of the flare
Also MOABs are 8 inches wide and 5 inches of backspacing so they the tire sits at the edge of the flare just like the 4 inched backspaced wheel
They look great, are forged instead of cast like most all aftermarket wheels so stronger
You do have to run a wider tire, like 255-70-16 or 265-70-16 for example
Jeep originally installed 245-75-16s on them ( same height as the 265-70-16s ) but they did that more for advertising than any thing. The 245-75-16 Goodyear MTR was the height they wanted and the only tire that met their specs at the time

I had my moabs and tires on before installing the lift (because I needed tires NOW!) and they rubbed pretty bad as you got to full lock. So you can do it but bear that in mind.

I DO NOT recommend them unlifted due to width for one since they will more than likely rub, plus trying to find a wider tire that is 28-29 inches tall

LOL ..............no

Agreed.. certainly not the mother of all wheels. Just a nice upgrade to OE for low cost.

IMO, the Wrangler Rubicon wheels (Moab's) should have been OE on the Liberty Renegade (paint matched if they wanted to), or at least an upgrade option for the Limited models.

They were already in production the same years... I guess they didnt want to make the KJ too nice.
