What is this?

We found and bought a 2012 Liberty Sport this past year and there is some sort of rack system mounted on the inside roof. Has anyone seen this system and might know what it is for?

Those look like drawer slides out of kitchen cabinets. Someone's custom work perhaps?

Now I’m stuck wondering what the heck they were doing with those things mounted sideways.

Just a thought: The sliders have T-bolts to tighten their positions after adjusting and marks from that can be seen in the track. The assembly could not hold much weight so I am guessing a curtain, for example, could have been suspended and able to be positioned as desired.
