This is probably a dumb question but i was checking fluids and things under the hood today when my arm bumped against this black thing that is located directly behind the windshield washer fluid cap and connected to a metal tube on my 05 jeep liberty and it was loose (not sure if because i bumped it or because it is supposed to be). What is this? and should it be loose or tight? Thanks in advance!

Just one of the AC tubes, one of the fittings

It's a plastic cap that protects the schrader valve on the AC line from gathering crud, same as a valve stem cap on a wheel. Only needs to be tight enough that it doesn't rattle off.
