What is this?

Greetings, wife and I bought an 06 CRD limited early this month. Looking it over I have found that the previous owner put on an OME 1.5 lift with a arms, a provent kit, and at one point had some hooks out the front. However, I have no idea what this is or used to be. It goes into the engine bay on the driver side wire bundle. Any idea what it is or was?

Let's see a pic of those front hooks. Bet it's a flat tow bar.

I'm guessing it was a toad in a previous life.

Toad = a vehicle towed behind a motor home.

Wires probably a hookup for brake controller and lights. Pull a taillight and I bet you have some extra wires and/or maybe an extra bulb.

Do you have a part time/ full time transfer case?

Libby's are / were very popular as toads.

I took my bracket off, wish I had kept it on and added shackles.

The whole thing is gone on this one. Also white... came with a snorkel too. Wife hates the snorkel but its not hurting anything other than the average joe's opinion of the vehicle. Lol.
