Is there supposed to be a weather strip on the TOP of the windshield? I looked at mine today, after noticing I am getting water on the floors after a rain. Well, I noticed, there is no weather strip on the top of the windshield, and is there supposed to be. I can't find any GOOD PICs of the thing to look at. I looked at a pic of that RED one with the hood louvers, it looks like there is a black strip at the top of the windshield...

That would mean the windshield was replaced, if that strip is not there, and there is supposed to be one.

There is nothing at the top of my windshield. Or at least I remember seeing a gap between the top of my windshield glass and the windshield frame.

I'm pretty sure it's just a mastic (flexible caulk) that forms the seal between the glass and body. The front glass is mounted just like the rear 1/4 windows that have no seal around them and were prone to leaks a few years back.

If there is water coming in at the base of the front windshield, I would take the KJ to a glass dealer and have them reseal the windshield. This is, of course, assuming that water is really coming in at the windshield and not from a plugged HVAC drain.

That is what I love about online forums, this one included. Whenever you think of something, give it a day and someone else will ask the same thing. I was going to mount my XM antenna and had no weather strip to tuck the wire under and I panicked. Luckily for me there is a KJ in every parking lot around here. I check 5 different ones and none had it so I thought I didn't have a problem. Very odd design huh. Where the F am I gonna put the wire now? I'm glad I wasn't the only person to freak when noticing there was nothing in the top of the window frame. I'm sorry to hear you got water. I hope I don't get that soon. Maybe your inner seal or whatever is there went bad. Here is a quick pic of mine, sorry it is so dark. My garage doesn't have the best lighting and the sun has gone down.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Early '02 KJ's came with a rubber molding on the top of the windshield,I have one and I have even replaced my windshield and the new one came with a rubber molding on top of the glass. They deleted that rubber strip in later years for cost factor,a 0.05 cent piece of rubber was killing there bottom line.

Was there a reason for the weatherstrip? Functional or cosmetic?

I haven't used the A/C yet for water condensation, but will RAIN water get in there?

Also, funny you should mention that. My 08 Vibe did just that. When I would make a semi-hard or hard left turn with the A/C on, I would hear water sizzle, then the passenger floor would get wet. Turned out, yeah, the drain hole clogged up. Only when the A/C was on, not during rain though...

I have to find where the water is coming from, and I haven't had it outside during a decent rain since I dried it all up.

So, I can get a weather strip from an 02, earlier model, and use it?

I just went and looked, and mine has it. I was thinking only the 02's had it, but my 05 has it.

NOTE: My windshield has been replaced before.

I just got off the phone with the plexi glass shop, having all glass replaced. I removed the back seat, pass seat, roof rack, spare....I'm gonna get 0-60 in 6 seconds....:D
