Okay Guys,

Tired of getting ****** around by the auto shops locally....

I just bought a 2002 Liberty 4x4 with a 2.5" lift and the Wrangler Moab Wheels (16x8"). She's a looker, but I am wanting to make sure she runs well, lasts long and does me good this summer in the back country. Not sure where to begin and don't have tons of history on stock product in these Jeeps.... yeah i'm a liberty newbie and wouldn't mind some advice....

THANKS!!!

Cold Air Intakes do not gain a huge amount of power on the KJ (around 8 horsepower I've seen), but K&N or AEM seem to be popular. Mopar's cold air intake also just plain looks cool if you can find it. Exhaust all depends on what you like and what you intend to use the Jeep for. If you are not looking to be rockcrawling, Borla has a very cool dual exhaust that looks great. Otherwise, Magnaflows are popular. Once again, depends on the sound you like. Front brush guard, if the money is there, go ARB. Looks good and very functional. The rear taillights I am no help on and Mopar's lightbar is the best option unless you intend to mount a roof rack.

oh
if you are taking it off pavement, sliders and skids first.

also, if you dont have its history, drain and refill all fluids, just to be safe.

You didn't tell us you had skids so Offrovering was telling you you should have them because you said you wanted to go off-road. List your equipment in your sig so everyone knows what you have and then you will get better answers.

Do you have towhooks? You should have them also if you want to go off-road.

The OEM skids are adequite but aftermarket ones are heavier duty. It all depends on what kind of off-road you want to do. The OEM skids are probably fine unless you are going rock-crawling. For example, I have the OEM skids on and since I don't rock-crawl I have been fine with them, at least so far.

You said you wanted an aftermarket exhaust system. That won't help you off-road and might get ripped off. Better to go with an aftermarket muffler if you want like a magnaflow instead of a whole system.

Also, everyone modifies their jeep according to their usage so what is good for one jeep owner, might not be good for another.

Just some thoughts.

I got my Libby since january 1st. Got on this forum since then almost and believe me, seek and scrub the forum before you buy anything and youll find out if that is really for you or the other thing would be better off... I wanted a Grilled Guard for mine (westin is pretty sexy) but i read and understood that it dont really protect anything except front setbeams lol. In frontal crash even at slow speed itll eventually destroy ur front end as the top of it will ripp your hood and grill while without it youd only get bumper ripped... all about the look... Off-Road = Go easy on the $ spent on exhaust ... You will probably break something one day ... I have Black Altezza tail lights on now and they are really nice and works just as well !! 2 min installation and a Hex or is it philips T20 bit... Headlights = Search Scrapyards ... New here in Quebec = 800$ not installed, scrapyard = 250$... Speak for itself... As for the Air Intake ... Just how deep iin mud/water you think your gonna go ? The very day your friends offroading cross a river might be the day you get dirt/water in your engine ... Depends on how and what kind of OffRoading you intend on doing ... I know its no good for me but maybe youll be fine ...
Hope it helps you a bit and make sure you know what your going to do and how hard !!
I know my jeep loves to get dirty and he keeps thanking me for that little mud ride i give him every weekend so far :p. Just havent found his name yet !! lol ;)
