Just so I'm going to be a little more specific with describing the sound,

-it is a light jiggle-ish sound. Almost sounds like something metallic rubbing against the rotor as it turns.
-i think the sound does change with speed
-the sound does not change going over bumps

thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks.

Yeah! The driveshaft isnt that hard to do. Pull it out and see if the sound goes away. You can drive without it till you get it fixed.

so giving up on the transfer case plug, I decided to remove the front driveshaft.
The jiggling sound was indeed caused by the front drive shaft.

The rear CV needed replacement.
Still in the process of getting things cleaned and put together the new CV while the jeep cools down.

so far a rubber mallet has helped a lot. it was pretty tricky to remove the drive shaft from under the undercarriage and past the exhaust.

Thanks all.

btw will there be any issues driving without the driveshaft for long distances? I have a 3 hour drive from Surprise back down to Tucson AZ.

No issues just don't try 4x4 :)
