I have a 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade 4x4 3.7L V6 with automatic transmission. 2 days ago when leaving work the transmission slipped out of gear at a stop light and wouldn't engage. I put it in neutral then back into drive and proceeded on my way home with no other problems. Yesterday same thing, but this time it slipped out and back in 4 times before it drove normally. When I woke up this morning I noticed fluid under the front passenger side the of the vehicle. Checked the transmission level and it is pretty much bone dry. Any ideas on what this could be?

Check the cooling lines. Sounds like a leak.

And get some ATF +4 stat.

Don't put any other type of fluid in it unless you want to buy a new ******.
