Hello all I just want to start off by saying how helpful this site is I am so glad I stumbled across it.I was looking for info on how to replace my wheel hub and found this site and it was very helpful and I am planning to replace my hub very soon I feel very lucky as my liberty is 2 wheel drive with 160780 miles on it and the only thing I have replaced so far is the throttle position sensor and now a wheel hub. anyway sorry for the long winded comment my question is this given my mileage with this liberty should I consider changing my transmission filter and if I do will it hurt it to do so? let me explain I have heard some different arguments about changing the filter after such long mileage without it ever being changed i have been told to change it and I have been told not to because I would stir up junk inside and when I change the filter and fluid and it would start to not shift correctly it kind of sounds silly to think a new filter would do more harm than good but given the fact that my liberty has been so dependable i wanted to make sure. thank you for any info in this matter.

It's a hassle, but if you're really worried about loose gunk floating around you could do the ol' double-switch and change the fluid again after a few hundred miles. Anything that got stirred up after the first round would be gone after the second. :favorites13:

OK that might be a option I just wanted to make sure because I am disabled and on a very limited income and can't afford the 1800 dollars for a new transmission I should be ashamed of myself I know better I am a disabled truck driver so I know better than most people about preventive maintenance I am the second owner of this liberty and it had less than 50,000 miles on it when I got it so I know it hasn't been changed. It is amazing how easy things get away from you when you aren't strict with your habits.
