Transfer case swap - shifter

Im swapping a 231 commond trac transfercase to 242 selec trac. Before I really get into this I was wondering if I can use the 231 shifter for the 242 case. I realize it is nicer to have the one meant for the selec trac but I dont really care.

You will need the correct shifter as the 231 shifter does not have the detent for the extra selection that the 242 has.
