Transfer case position switch

Hi all.....
My part time light has done the standard flip flop.....in 2wd indicates still in 4wd.
Anyway......searched on here and see i can go in from the top or bottom to get to the switch. I am going to try from the bottom first, but since i will be doing it by feel.....does the wire just pull off or is there some sort of tab that needs to be released to pull it off like most connectors......would like to know before i try so i don't break anything.

Mine had a tab. I personally couldn't do it from underneath and taking the console apart is no big deal to me, so I went in through the top (I do my ****** fluid this way too.)
