Transfer case linkage

my cable seems loose is there any way to adjust? NP231 case Jeep 04 3.7L all stock. it pops into neutral upon pulling out.

Take a look for a missing or broken nylon bushing...lots fail!

replaced with no result, still coming out of 2high. i can drive it in 4 low does that make any sense? i have also tried taking the cable off and shifting manually but still seems to pop out of gear

Welcome! Its sounds like you may have a bent shift fork. I would try shifting the transfer case while the transmission is neutral.

get under there and disconnect the linkage cable and manually put it into 2h and then seen if it still pops out, if it does, problem isnt with the cable. it's a fairly simple design, as long as the cable retention bracket isnt bent/broke
