Not sure what transfer case I have I believe its select trac. I have said to the wife the last few weeks it feels like it is in 4WD. The dealer called the wife today again and said that something is also wrong with the transmission. He is ordering the part and should be in soon. It may be until next week Wed that they may have my jeep.

So youve not used 4wd in along time? Sounds like the tcase might of just went out. Did you say how many miles are on the Jeep or how many times youve changed the tcase oil?

Think someone may of put it into 4wd and left it?

I have 54000 on the odometer, and changed the transfer case oil at 25000. The last time i used the 4WD was a couple of months ago during a hard rain, but only for a matter of minutes.

Well yesterday when driving home she started bucking on me. I took it out of overdrive and she was fine. So I had to go out again and when I put it in reverse she started clank, clank, clank. I picked up some new atf+4 and a filter, and changed them this morning. Well after a few trips around the block to circulate everything i put it in reverse again to park it in the drive and Bang Boom! Now I have nothing. No reverse or drive. I had to put it in neutral and the Xfer case in neutral as well just to be able to roll her. I had it towed to the stealership, and they say may need new trans. Anyone know how long it should take them to replace it. I only have 54000 on it and should be covered under 7/70. I have a feeling they will try to wiggle out of it. Its my only vehicle so I do not beat on it. Ill fight them tooth and nail for the warranty work.

There should be no wiggling out of it. It's drivetrain.

If it wasnt in 4wd then it just broke.

Ive had to use 4wd in the rain just to pull up a hill. That was on asphalt, yes.. :)

TJ:
I only used the 4WD to keep good traction through a few deep pools where the rain backs up in the crappy drainage systems here. Maybe not really necessary, but I do it for the piece of mind.
