Doesn't do it all the time. I will back the Liberty out of the garage, put it in drive, when I push on the gas I feel a "thud". I put on greasable ujoints a few years ago. No vibrations or metal on metal noises. Usually just the one thud and it's fine the rest of the day. Could that be my slip yoke hanging up?

Not sure, do you inspect like front ball joints? Jack wheel off ground and shake wheel with hands at 12 and 6 then at 3 and 9 looking for movement?

I'll have to crawl under the jeep and take a look. If it is worn out I'm guessing the bolts will be a nightmare cause we live in the Wisconsin rust belt. Also seems like buying the mopar part is recommended from what I've read but it's $300+!!

Just make sure that is the problem before buying anything. I thought mine was going a while back and it turned out to be my exhaust. Use a bit of penetrating oil in advance (PB blaster etc). Sounds like it's easier if you unbolt the whole bracket from the diff and remove the bracket from the tri-link when it is off the vehicle. :party52:

Definitely check before replacing but at 88000 miles I would not be surprised that it is dead if that is the original. When you crawl under you can have someone rock the jeep (with wheel chalks of course) to look for movement as well.

I think mine might actually be original at 174k. Sure looks that way but I bought mine with a bit over 80k.

I may have to give mine "the test" again too.

I will want to rock the jeep left to right and not front to back, right? While that is happening look for play in the ball joint and for rotten outer bushings, right?

No front to back in park and see if the ball joint moves much.

I'd say the pry bar method would be just as good. Should not move with pry bar.
