2006 Jeep Liberty...the tailgate and rear window are stuck in "lock" - neither the remotes NOR the manual buttons on driver and passenger sides to unlock all the doors are having any effect on the rear window/rear door, which remain un-openable. Is there some kind of button in the driver's seat that can open them, or is there a part to replace?

Is there a fuse for the rear door? I'm not sure but check for that. Other wise you'll have to pull the panel off from the inside to get anything to release.

Do you have a key FOB? If so press the glass and see if it opens..
If not like KJ604 said you'll have to take off the access panel on the rear tailgate interior panel.. there's a little square access panel.
Inside you'll need to look at the connecting rod for the door latch mechanism..
Pulling it backward (to your right when facing the tailgate from inside) should release the hatch.. you could just have a broken clip on the rod.. in which case you'll want a new clip or ziptie it until you can get one...
Could be that, or your glass could be stuck keeping it from allowing the hatch to open..

Mild hyjack...

Where is the glass sensor? Our KJ keeps ponging the seatblet warning and "glass" appears on the odometer. Yes the glass is actually shut!

We also have a corroded tailgate handle switch which means you can only open the rear with the glass remote button first, then the handle.

That handle switch is relatively cheap and very easy to replace

Remove the rear panel, you'll find a connector leading to a black switch with a metal tab. That metal tab is important don't lose it. Remove that tab and pull the switch out. Pop new one in and test.

You may find it easier to remove the handle from the tailgate first if you have big hands btw but shouldn't be that hard.
