Bennet and all,

Need your advice on the Surco roof basket that alot of you guys are sporting...

What mount is it that you have for your basket?

What is the Surco mount part number you guys are using to mount to the side rails?

I thought this is the mount for the KJ/basket: Surco 1101 Clamp Mount Adapters... Surco said it is right but their website is poor for pix and info.

I saw ppl using the ER100. Which one is better or the correct one?

Or are you making your own mounts?

Bennet or somebody, can you post close ups of our mount setup please?

Also, is everybody happy with theirs and where is the best place to buy these?

Thx

Hi,

Yes I have the Surco 1101 Clamp Mount Adapters. Work pretty good. No so sure on the other ones... is that for their aluminum basket they make?

Been pretty happy with the rack. Is holding up well with no corrosion in sight.

I'll try to get a picture for ya,
Bennett

Rack

Bennet thanks for the info. Is the mount pretty secure ie. hard for theives to steal?

How much weight have you actually put on it?

Is it noisy?

Any noticeable impact on gas mileage?

I was looking at other racks w/ fairings?

Thanks

It's got a special keyed tool to fasten it so its relatively hard to get off without the tool.

Is it secure?? It's rock solid. It is one with the Jeep, put it that way.

Well I have stood on top of it and have had it full of wood. So its pretty strong. However, the roof does have a weight limit. I believe its like 150, but I've had it up to 200 lbs easily with wood.

No noise actually what so ever... at least with my hearing.

I think it's probably the best bang for the buck.

hahah...you don't want to know. I took a gamble as I could have bought it locally for 290 canadian and summit racing was 160 usd, which is like 200 cad, I figired there was no way it would cost 100 to ship it. We'll that was where I made the mistake. They charged me $100 US after the fact for shipping and then I was charged $35 CAD for brokerage. I called summit and complained enough to get back half of the shipping. So I might have broken even and not given the local guy the business which I feel bad about.

I am very happy with the u bolts and saving myself $150 dollars in mounts. It is very easy to install with the bolts, you just need to drill 2 small holes at each mount point and buy $5 in stainless u bolts.

Pix

Glad to hear they worked out for you. Are the U bolts pretty secure or is it easy for some knucklehead to steal it?

Hey, how about posting some pix of your setup for us?
