Stock roof rail removal

I have a 05 kj sport and im looking to mount a basket to the stock roof rails. I notice there are holes on these roof rails about 29 inches apart and go through only the top side of the tube. I am looking to bolt cross bars to these holes however i need to know how to remove the rails to get to them. If anybody has done similar work to their roof rails, or knows how to remove them help me out please!!!! (Aeh)
