Bad starter solenoid. They can be changed without changing entire starter, but if you have to hire it done the additional labor makes it pretty much the same price. And the new reman should have a lifetime warranty.

Agree..

M38 Bob is right - starter solenoid. Your Jeep is warning you it needs a remanufactured starter, so listen up. Otherwise one day it won't start and you will have to pay for a tow to a garage to have it replaced. So act now - replace it yourself or get it to a garage to have it done.

If the day comes all the clicking in the world won't get it to engage, beat the schit out of it with a hammer! Then if it does start DO NOT SHUT IT OFF till you're at the shop that's gonna put the new one on, and parked where they want it.

Bob

By the way, mine's doing the same damn thing now that my everyday driver Silverado's at a stereo shop for the next week.

First check the battery is good under load, the battery connections are clean and tight, the negative battery lead going to chassis is clean and tight both ends and the grounding strap grounding the engine to the chassis is clean and tight both ends.

Also swap over the Starter Relay...in the relay box under the hood...with an identical relay nearby.

Could be a bad starter solenoid...best to replace complete starter motor including solenoid!
