Spare on the Roof Rack

For those of you that have your spare on your roof rack or did have it up there, how did you keep it tied down? Im trying to figure out a way to put mine up there but I cant think of a good way to keep it in one spot.

When mine was on my roof rack I used two 6' ratchet straps to hold it down.

i use a chain and padlock. havent heard a rattle from it. and no ones going to steal it.

thats what I was thinking at first but then I thought it might slide around some, and make a little noise which the noise wouldnt bother me I was just too worried that it might slide off

What kind of roof rack do you have?

one I made, its similar to KJHawaii's just flat no sides to it
