Anyone ever tried to do this? I measured the distance between the end of the running board and the rear passenger side wheel and came up with less than 3" of space, so no exhaust tip is going to be able to exit there. There are approximately 9.5" of space between the bottom of the running board and the ground, and the running board drops probably 4" or so from the underbody of the vehicle. I'm trying to avoid having to remove the running boards.

If I am reading this correctly, you want side exit exhaust for looks?

You could also do something like this set up:

Or you could just skip paying for the whole CAT-back system. After I crushed my Borla muffler I just installed a $20 Thrush Turbo muffler and a turn down,it exited about 10" in front of the rear axle, sounded good to.

Then I swapped in a MagnaFlow Ultra Race muffler, the 12" long one, very compact.Below is a pic compared to the Thrush, sorry no installed pics. The Ultra Race muffler sounds way better, even compared to the FlowMaster.

If I'm not reading your post correctly, then please excuse me!

Yes, just for looks. I remember that post you quoted too xD I want to be able to see the tailpipe, and mostly I was just hoping to find someone who had done the same thing so I could see what sorts of bends and such i needed to weld together.

it would be impractical on the clearance part and all, but i have thought for a while that those long running bullet hole side pipes like on an old cobra would look good on a kj with the right wheels and lift.

I've been running ideas through my head all day and I'm thinking I might be able to cut a half-circle into the running board itself to save on some clearance, but I haven't decided yet. I might take it to the guy who repaired it after the accident and see what he thinks I could do with it. I'd really like to do a side exit on both sides but I doubt that'll happen xD
