Exactly what tasks must a ‘stealer’ do as per the required Maintenance Service Schedule ‘B” for a CDR? This will be the second service to be done at 40 000 km. After watching a actuality program on TV where various ‘traps’ were set in order to ascertain if dealers actually do what they charge for. Although the vehicles did not included Jeep, very scary revelations were found. There were instances where only the oil and oil filter were changed, none of the other safety checks, etc. done.

Thus, is there any checklist available that I can present to the mechanic/foreman, and then verify against it after the job? Unfortunately warrenty conditions dictate that only the so-called autorised dealers are allowed to do the service.

I do not have any gripe about paying for good service, but really get aggressive when taken for a ride (no pun intended), especially when safety items were neglected.

With respect, the owner's manual is very skimpy and general. It would take any technical type of owner 30 min tops to do the listed tasks, yet the dealer wants to charge for 3 hours plus labour. What else are they suppose to do?
