Has anybody else had rust issues on the lower doors?

I think my doors are rusting from the inside out. I might be wrong, but the paint is bubbled up with rust underneith it.

It's either that, or the design of the rubber door seals on the bottom.

Here are some pics....I fixed it with Zero Rust to slow it down as much as possible.

 I'd use that Zero Rust then repaint, probably the most protection there. Probabl wouldn't hurt to clean that area a lot during winter also. :)

My rear driver door is bubbling as well. I cleaned the KJ as much as possible [winter] over it's 7 year history and still get the bubble... Eh, time to start looking for a rear door in the next couple months.

That's where rust typically starts on Chryslers. My mom's old '93 Duster started rusting in the same spot after about 5ish years.

I spray wax oil into the bottom of my doors. It's an English product that works well in keeping rust away.
My Old man sprays WD40 into his and, well, it does the same thing. Keeps the water from building up and mixing with the road grime and dirt that makes it past the window seals trapping the moisture in.
Everyspring I do this after first rincing out the door drains on the bottom of the doors.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
You wonder why I don't play in mud anymore and spend so much money at the carwash, but I have no rust. That spot is the worst since there are drains there and that area gets hit 1st with all the junk and rarely gets cleaned right.Like already stated that painting is just a temp fix,it will come back.

So much for 100% galvanized steel...

My 2000 Avenger doors were 100% clean when I traded it in... I sprayed Trans Fluid into the doors from the drain holes, when I bought it, it soaked into the metal, and the doors never rusted there. Was an old trick my Grandfather told me about, and it worked.

Being that it is a white vehicle, it is even more prone to rusting in those areas since a white vehicle never gets as hot as a dark colored vehicle. The spots where rubber meets metal, these are the problem spots, since they don't dry as easily as say a black vehicle.

Oil Oil Oil is the key!!

Our ZJ is rusting in the same places and also along the rear lift gate. 3 other Jeeps are clean.

I clean the bottom of my doors often but I need to start spraying oil into them. I may take the door panels off and clean anything out that may be building up.

If you ask me, I think it's poor craftsmanship on Chrysler's part. Out of all the Liberty's I've seen while shopping around(keep in mind that we now own two), they've all had corrosion issues.

I'm not sure if it's due to poor grounding of the electronics, piss poor paint, or what.

I'm not totally convinced that it's because we live in NY and we use salt in the winter. My sister has had issues with her KJ too, and she lives in VT. Over there they use sand.

I just tell myself that I won't have to worry about f-ing up my vehicle so much since it's not a show vehicle. :D

I also keep telling myself that it just has to out last my payments. :D

Rust *****, I know all about it!
English cars!
You might consider taking a wire wheel to it and giving it a thorough cleaning and then repainting it with that rust inhibitor paint again. Once dry, spray wax oil, WD40, oil into it and that may put off the rust for a little longer.

Mine are fine after nearly 5 years down here, but no snow :)()=no salt.

The only salt I come in contact with is the salt on my chips!!!:D

In NB where I just moved from, they use Calcium Chloride liquid brine solution. Since they started using it, I have seen rust on places where there was no/very little before. This stuff is really doing a number on the cars in that area.

Metal brake fluid lines seem to be taking the worst punishment of all, heck even my rear coils look like they are 15 yrs old...only installed last April.

Yup, same here, only my Pa always uses good old oil!
As far as 100% galvanized steel?
It still needs maintenance!

Gotta just keep cleaning all those little areas that most people never think about cleaning!
Just like my four wisdom teeth! Gotta brush them extra special, yet they still managed to get full of cavities!

When I lived in Holland, they had a section of heated road way! Hence, NO ice on that section!
Only in Europe!

As far as the Calcium Chloride liquid brine solution...
Evil, evil crap!
Even here on the West Coast of British Columbia along the 49th. Parallel vehicles rust from the salt they deposit along with the sand from the 4"Salting trucks" we have on hand all winter!
But the Motorists here are either lazy or don't give a damn, or in some cases do not think about it; and they do not clean those hard to reach area's in their vehicles!

I've got bubbled up paint on the bottom corner of the outside of the driver's side door and on the inside a little bit as well, but not to that extent. I also noticed a bit above the windshield as well, right along the edge of where the light bar starts. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on it and fix her up.
