Lots of paint on the underbody, constant washing of all body panels and underbody, and clean areas that are prone to rust like the bottom of the doors and under the third tail light. Also pay attention to the rocker panels.

Keeping Jeep body & under body really clean/free form salt is key, to having a jeep that does not rust apart.
The company that did the undercoating will do touch ups for free, and I may take them up on that next spring.
Waxing paint helps & is good maintenance too!

Very nice and clean undercoat there Tc. Was thinking of doing it myself this year before time runs out. Just have to make sure i know what not to coat other than the obvious ( exhaust etc..) :icon_lol:

Mine I bought new gets 2-3 coats of paint a years, at least underneath
IF you bought used and its rusting then sand down, POR15 or something similar for the rust and then paint over

This year, I bought and applied some Corrosion Free coating. I did a lot of research about the different brands. Application went according to the company's claims (product was drip-free). The product seems to stick very well, and is odor-free.

Sounds interesting...&... what product did you use Jeff?

Like others have said, undercoating and rustproofing is the best way if you live in a salt belt. I touch up the undercoating once per year. I always do it myself because I once had a place apply the undercoating to heavy which ended up doing more harm then good. 3M makes decent rustproofing products and I also use their undercoat.

I stopped using rust proofing back in the 80s, just a good quality paint has worked much better for me over the years .

Wash it wash it wash it. Spray the door jambs and door drains with some silicone spray. And wash it. Check under the third brake light.

I used the Rust Cure 3000. I bought the gallon jug and also their spray gun. I also ordered a couple of the aerosol cans for getting into tighter places. The aerosol product DOES drip or run easier than the thicker bulk stuff, but seems to set up after it sits for a while.

Does that Rust Cure 3000 dry black in color?
Looks like a good product and I can get it here locally. Would like to tray a spray can of it!!
Even though I keep my jeep undercoated the best I can, it is a constant battle against the elements.
This week had to touch up rust on the pushbar, front suspension, rear axle etc again.
Even the steel brake pedal is solid rust, the handbrake too!
If it keeps up like this after another salty winter, I may have to place this sticker on my Jeep! :icon_lol:

The RC3000 doesn't dry, but remains a sort of gel-like consistency.

I need to do the same to my wife's 03 KJ. we bought it up here from Philly but it will be headed south next year. I have been researching products and honestly think I am just going to prep, prime and paint it and see how it does for this season. The previous owner took really good care of it, very little rust on the underside and only a couple spots in the door jam, which will be easy enough to sand and repaint. I had the 3rd b rake light off to polish it and it looked good there too. I did however snap one of the screws off due to rust eating it away.

Just pay attention to your rocker panels. If you wheel at all and your tires stick out even just a little bit, it'll start chipping away and rusting
