Bought a 02 jeep liberty limited edition 3.7 with 106 000 miles on it. 112 000 blew the motor by leaving the coolant cap off one morning after filling it with coolant because the radiator had a small crack in it. Well that ended up blowing a head gasket i belive at 4 and 6 cylinders because the coil packs broke off when puling the motor.
$3000 and a couple days installing the rebuilt motor with new radiator, plugs, couple coil packs and fluids. Everything been fine since. Had the motor rebuilt back in Feb 2013.
Car now has 157 000 miles
Couple weeks ago noticed my coolant reservoir was leaking from the top right on top of 4 and 6 spark plug. One afternoon leaving work had a misfire when going home. So picked up a coil pack because after seeing the rust from the water on top if that coil pack i figured thats what it was. So drove to parts store packed up new coolant reservoir, coil pack and oem spark plug. Replaced 6 first because thought that was the one that went out. Well it was number 4. After that car ran fine since. Well week ago i started experiencing rough idle at stop lights then a little bit of hesitation when starting to go but eventually went away after getting to the speed of 10 mph so just brushed it off. I noticed it starting to get worse after driving it a couple days so it started worrying me. Went on forums to see what i could figure out. So after a little research at work i drove home. Went to go pass a car and when it started gaining speed it loses all power but does not shut off. Engine light starts blinking and engine is misfiring. I get it home and started pulling coil packs. Was gonna switch one with another to see if it would pull a code. Well after checking 6 spark plug i notice it has oil on the threads. All the others do not they all looked clean. well after checking everything. Start the car and suddenly just dies. Start it again, this time needing a little gas to get it started i hear a tapping noise from the motor. sounds like a piston rod
. Any suggestions? Calling the company who rebuilt my motor tomorrow to see what kind of warranty i have. Let me know if you need any info.
