Could you elaborate some?

A good place to start would be by buying some crossrails. Don't get the aero ones from Mopar, nothing fits on them ](*,) . Get some Thules or Yakimas (or barecrafters or...)...Basically, get square profile loadbars. Then you have the platform to mount whatever you want up there- Bikes, Kayaks, Skis, Canoes, whatever. You can also just buy a basket that mounts directly to the factory rails, thus eliminating the loadbar step (but you probally won't be able to mount carriers up there that way). Baskets are good for throwing....stuff into. Tents, sleeping bags (IN DRYBAGS), backpacks, whatever. Good luck, hope this helped.

Get rid of the rack and build something that bolts in it's place if you want real load capacity. 150 lbs I think is max and the basket counts.

Cross Rails or a basket.

I went with the Yakima Lowriders - or you could go with the mopar cross bars. Or you could go for a basket.

Depends on your preference and what you will be toting up there.

I had yakima lowriders, and yakima loadwarrior basket. Looked good, plus I could fit a kayak on either side of the basket. I prefer Yakima to thule, Yakima is simple design, and is manufactured in the US

Good day,
I use Thule, only because at the time I bought the load bars and accessories(14 years ago) the mountaineering shop I worked at did not sell Yakima racks yet.
They stand up well to heavy loads and have never let me down on all the 5 vehicles I have used them on!
I have a unique luggage basket(3ft.X5ft.) and ski box(13cubic feet)

However, If I had to replace them, I would opt for Yakima due to their round load bar design and easier to fit on a much wider variety of automobiles.
Not to mention, the load bars do not bend over time and the whole system is considerably stronger.

Cheers
Ryan

Thanks for the input, hopefully I have'nt made a mistake as I have the Jeep/Mopar basket waiting for me at the dealership. Has anyone used the Jeep cargo Basket? Should I tell them to keep it and inveset in the Thule/Yakima setup. For those that used the aftermarket setup, which model/part number did you use?

Where can I get a basket that mounts this way? I'd prefer to avoid the cross bars because it would add extra height.

All I can say is that the RL rack is by far the best rack in the word for the KJ.
Black widow was not stout enough for me nor big enough.
Surco was okay, but again not stout enough for me.
With the RL, I can literally jump up and down and the entire jeep moves, not the rack.
Granted I only paid $200 for my RL rack b/c I purchased it from a member, but it is amazing!
