Replace a fender?

Hello,

Does anyone know what would be involved in replacing a front right fender? I'm talking about the metal body part, not the plastic fender extension. If was able to buy a fender and get it painted, could I do the swap in my garage?

I can't really answer your question, but im curious how the fender was damaged without having anything around it replaced as well.

I've had a fender replaced on mine, (after a 45mph long way collision with a dodge ram) but had the shop do it.
