rear diff question urgent

hey everyone I have my rear diff open. all the fluid drained rtv removed and replaced curing. when you say wipe metallic shavings.. is there a little square magnet thing on the bottom of the inside? Is that what you are talking about? and do i wipe that completely clean? there was thick sludge-like stuff on it i wiped it all off. Everything's cleaned with brake cleaner. and ready for the cover to go back on. just wanna make sure i didn't wipe off something i shouldn't have

Nope. Just put that magnet back where you got it and reseal the diff cover and fill 'er. I assume you cleaned inside the diff cover too. Wipe down the inside the pumpkin and get all the old oil and shavings outta there too.

Sounds like you are ok. You wiped it all out.

Don't forget the friction modifier if you have trac-lok. If you don't have the trac-loc, then you don't need it.

yeah i wiped all the sludge off the little metal square which i assume is the magnet. but i left that there. Ok thanks for the help. ill be back to the forums in a few. gotta go give my lib what shes been starving for for probably all of 91,000 miles. and man did what she throw out of there look like it.
