Hey there. Just wondering what the best addative was to put in my 2003 2.5 CRD rear diff to stop chatter. Have been recommonded mopar LSD addative but struggling to get hold of it over here in the UK. Managed to find some Kendall addative, will this be ok or has it got to be Mopar? Cheers.

Hi,

Does the dealer not have it in small bottles (30ml-60ml)?

They all do here and it's about NZ$20 for 30ml. I think it has to be the Mopar stuff as it is their Tracloc diff!!

The common words to look for are posi-traction or Limited Slip Additive.
Many of the common gear oils all ready include it, and it will state that on lube.
Below is a photo of the Trac-Loc recommended Chrysler 120 ml bottle with part #.

With my recent addition of a Riddler diff cover I use Lucas Gear Lube & For LS additive went with the LubeGard one.

No nobody stocks Mopar. Apparently it costs to much to ship over from the states as its a hazardous substance. They said they could include it in there next shipment but didnt know how long till they next order. Yeah recon i might just go speak to my dealer (not easy when there 50 miles away) and get some off them. Thanks for the help guys, at least i can supply them with the part number now. cheers.

I recently did the difs in my Jeep. I used 75-140 amsoil syn. , and lim. slip fluid in it.

The guy at the store said the amsoil was the heaviest stuff he had. And that "you need that because DANA doesn't know how to make stuff anymore"
Now I don't know about all that ... but I think the point there was heat.

Note on Synthetic Gear Oils....they need to be changed sooner than Dino GL5.
The rear diff service recommendation is every 20K miles.
The Lucas is thicker @85w-140 and IMHO is better suited for 8.25 rear diff.
There is just something about synthetics and slippery friction modifiers that scare me.
I'd rather have the stinky, sticky, Lucas on the gears any day of the week.
