I ended up picking up a pair of these: 6" Swivel Pad Lock-Grip Pliers

Even if they don't work I know they will be useful for other things. I don't mind taking a chance on a tool that has multiple uses. It's the ones that cost a lot which you know you'll probably only use one time that kill me.

I have those hose clamp pliers. Got 'em at Sears with a partial gift card. They've paid for themselves several times over.

I also have a couple pairs of regular (not remote) hose clamp pliers from HF. They work great as long as the spring clamp isn't facing away from you, which is what the remote ones excel at.

Went out to the garage just now and I decided that the bigger pair (11") would have been better. Good thing I'm of the opinion that you can never have too many tools. I now have the pair, which together cost me less than ten bucks. Thank goodness for Harbor Freight.

and HF free items with purchase and 20% off.
There's a 25% off today for Easter.

They guy that runs mine doesn't allow the use of more than one coupon... So free item OR 20% off. He is not the nicest person. If it wasn't the closest one I wouldn't shop there ever.
