Will a 245 70 r16 spare tire fit when all the other tires are 235 65 r17?

Not sure if I fully understand what you are trying to do:

1) If you are trying to put the 245 70 r16 tire on your existing 17" wheels, it won't fit on the wheel because of the different diameter.

2) If you have a 16" wheel with 5x4.5 bolt pattern for the 245 70 r16 tire, it will fit on the spare rack. BUT.... The 245 70 r16 will be about 1/2" taller than the rest of the 235 65 r17's, and not good for any 4-wheel drive vehicle if the spare is ever needed.

I'm trying to find out if I should keep the 245 70 r16 spare tire in my vehicle and use it in case of an emergency if all my other tires are 235 65 r17. I wouldn't drive on it on a day to day basis, just to get from A to B if I somehow get a flat.

Not in 4wheel drive and not with a locker or limited slip and in and open dif I would only do it to get where I need to go to get the other tire fixed
the 235 or 245 is tire size heigh the 70 or 60 is 60% or 70% wide as it is high the 16 or 17 is the rim size and rim with counts too.

Tire formula
p215/75/15.... take 215 (width), times .75 (the 75 is your aspect ratio, 75% of your width in this example)... this gives you the metric height of one sidewall (for instance the one under the wheel... for overall height, you need to measure the one above the wheel too, so multipy your answer by two) 215X.75=161.25... X2=322.5. now divide this by 25.4 to convert to inches 322.5 divided by 25.4 = 12.696 (12.7 inches)... now add this number to your wheel size, in this example 15"= 27.7" tire...
245/70/16 = 29.5" tall 9.64" wide
235/65/16 = 28.02" tall 9.25" wide
1.5" overall height difference is a huge difference if you are using four wheel drive, or have lockers or limited slips....

He is comparing 16" and 17" tires. Your 2nd calculation should be for 235/65/17, which is 29" tall and 9.3" wide. Only 1/2" difference between his 2 tires, but still not recommended.
