heres how i broke mine in when i bought it and also broke in a ford 302 in 1997. some may think this is overkill but i can sleep knowing i got out most of the metal shavings and provided good lubrication during this hot/friction time in the engines life.

use regular oil for all of this until 5000 miles. after 5000 miles switch to a good full synth such as mobil 1 extended.

1. first oil fill drive for a good hour keeping rpms around 2500 if possible. change oil and filter at 100 miles.

2. drive normal from this point on how ever that is for you. dont get on the gas extremely hard just yet. change oil and filter at 500 miles.

3. keep normal driving. change oil and filter at 1000 miles.

4. keep normal driving. change oil and filter at 2500 miles.

5. keep normal driving. change oil and filter at 5000 miles, THEN switch to a full synth if you desire to.

6. drive normal and now its ok to get on the throttle hard if you need to. change oil and filter every 3000 to 5000 mile intervals depending on driving conditions.

both of my engines still sound like new and each has around 90k on them.

I run mine like I'm going to drive them the rest of their lives
Open them up and run them , if its going to come apart it'll be in the firstt few miles. Over a dozen new Jeeps/Fords/ a couple of Harleys I built all went many many miles and they hit the road wide open
Don't baby them for 20,000 miles and then start running them harder

Now that I'm installing the transgo kit and resistor... I was also thinking about disconnecting the torque management wire... Anyone with a kj have some pros/cons on that mod?

Dont ever use royal purple, we used it in our drag car many years ago and the sludge was horrible after only a few weeks of use. I have used Mobil one in everything ever since and never had any build up or lubrication problems. Vehicles from delivery trucks (like ups) race cars, daily drivers and all good so far.
