I hope this will help someone out there who may be experiencing the same issue.. I own a 2007 Liberty. I've had it for 3 years with little problems beyond the normal maintenance. Anyway I experienced problems with the heater system beginning with the loss of speed controls 1,2,and 3. This forum helped to identify the problem was the Blower motor Resistor.
Next, I began losing heat to the point the it was like the Vehicles throat was being choked (lol). Anyway that turned into a complete Drain of the Battery.
This last week I took it in to be worked on.. The mechanic took his time with the vehicle and found that When the Car is shut off and the key removed from the ignition the AC Clutch Relay has an intermittent failure and actually engage with the car completely shut off. Anyway this intermittent failure is hard to find and can be missed and never diagnosed. He showed me by tapping on the Relay with the key out of the ignition and sure enough it engaged the AC clutch thus creating a draw on the battery and eventually draining it completely. In addition with the intermittent failure the AC unit turns on during a heating cycle allowing both the heating and cooling system to fight each other so to speak causing the heat to weaken and cause the cab to get cold. The blower system tries to engage both at the same time and they cancel each other out.
I'm not sure how much help this may be. Hopefully it will give you a more cost effective alternative than replacing unnecessary parts. Good luck to everyone
