I have an 2005 3.7L Liberty. I have replaced the power steering pump 3 times. The first one gave me leak puddles. I returned and replaced. The second gave me leak puddles and it looked like maybe it was coming from the reservoir, which is possible i could have cracked it, so I returned and ordered a new pump with reservoir. This pump still has a leak at the pump to hose connection. So I ordered a new high pressure hose and replaced it. It still will not seal. I then replaced the connector on the pump, thinking that maybe it was that seal. Still a leak. So I bought a new O-ring from HD, put it on the end of the hose, which the others appear to be squashed. Still a leak. It is not sealing. Is it possible to over tighten? New pump? Ideas?

Where did you get the O ring from? HD=Home Depot?

I used Mopar o rings on mine, they worked and haven't leaked. I would start with that. Aftermarket ones seem to be a crapshoot. Where's the pump from? Almost all the reman ones get **** for reviews. I'd try a junk yard one or the original one if you still have it.

And it is possible to overtighten, you'll always have thread showing so if it feels tight, stop. Risk cracking the pump. My pressure line into the reservoir has quite a few threads sticking out but it's tight.

I have ordered my pumps from Rock Auto. Other pumps for other vehicles seem to work well from there. The orings I used first came with the pumps. I bought new Danco rings from Home Depot for last time. They appeared to be just a bit thicker.

That could be the issue. I'd get OEM ones so the fitment is perfect.
