Anyone have any negative results from their water crossings? Great pics though.

I didn't have any problems!! There was no water inside after the crossing.. When I crossed the river, the water was up to the hood just about halfway through!!

Wow, I'm not partial to spilling that much water over the top of my hood. Gulp.............

However, nice water hole to play around in.

    KJ in water

My first trial with the KJ in water(lower door sills were holding a good seal-no leakage).

Yes, it can be very bad.

If water gets in the engine it can 'hydro-lock.' If this doesnt destroy the engine when it does it then it will soon down the road.

Ive read about those I-6 engines surviving a hydro-lock though! Good thing they stopped using those since they were too good.

You'll note that the stock liberty actually has an ingenious design with the intake. It's got a kind of snorkel for the intial air intake, which goes down into the bottom of the box containing the air cleaner. Then the intake from the box into the engine is at the top of the box. At the bottom of the box is a drain hole.

What this means is that you can actually take a fair amount of water into your intake and it won't suck it up into the engine. The only way you can really do that is to either go into water above the hood, or take a significant splash-- enough volume to completely fill that rather large box before it can drain out the hole.
