Discovered that the previous owner of my wife's KJ was a drifting champion... or at least the fried parking brakes would make it appear that way. Some of the pads were worn down to nothing, one was gone. The cables are stiffer than grandpa on the blue pill. The whole thing needs to be replaced. Cables, assembly, pads and all. But I cannot for the life of me find any of the parts accept this:

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/d...QParking_Brake_HDWR_KitQQ20032005QQH7328.html

I can't really tell what that all comes with. Cables and pads not includes I assume... but I'm not even sure this is what I need. Anyway, their are two assemblies right? So would I need two of these kits, two sets of pads, and the cables.

Her jeep is an 04 Jeep Liberty with the 3.7 and 4 disc brake all around. Manual ******, and no badging anywhere on it... so I assume it is just a base model. It doesn't say Limited, Sport or anything anywhere. And I know dang well it isn't a Renegade.

Anyone have the parts numbers or recommendations?

Thanks for the help in advanced.

The parking brake cables are a dealer item.

52128510AE = part# for right cable
52128511AD = part# for left cable

The carpet will need to be removed to replace the cables.Don't forget to get new rear discs also if the parking brake shoes were that bad since the rotor "hat" is the parking brake drum.

Thanks. Rotor already replaced... that's why I saw the parking brake was mangled. She parks it in gear, as she should, w/o parking brake (ugh) so I didn't notice this problem before.

Any numbers for the parking brake pads or do we think they come with the assembly?

Also, will I have to remove the rotors/calipers again to replace the setup? I imagine I will... yay for repacking bearing...

Yep.

Oh and there is no repacking of any bearing required for this job,then again there are no bearing on a KJ that can be "repacked".The rear rotors will need to come off again.

Oh cool. Well as long as I have to mess up the spindle and stuff. I've had to repack bearings in other cars to change the rotors so I always worry about that when changing them. But I guess that was the front I was thinking of? Or a different car... eh, whatever.

You mentioned that I'd have to get under the carpets. Where do I start pulling them up from? Is there any easier place to get to where I need to? Some secret place to cut a hole to avoid too much work? Any advice would be great.

Also, the cable part numbers that are listed in that link I listed... what are those cables to? I find them everywhere I search for them, but the part numbers you have listed I can't find. Being Easter I can't call the dealer and ask for the numbers you listed. But I figured google would at least bring them up, but it doesn't.

To remove the rear rotors just pull the caliper off and pull the rotor off to expose the parking brake.

Those part #'s I listed are right from the '04 parts book,the part #'s in your link are updated part#'s,and yes a dealer or online dealer like Wycoff is where those need to be purchased.The parking brake cable run underneath the carpet,along the center hump to the center console where the parking brake lever is,no way around having to remove the carpet which means the F/R seats also need to be removed.It's a pain to do and I'll be doing it myself soon also since I need to swap out my parking brake cables for the rear disc ones and I also am putting in a vinyl mat to get rid of the carpet.

Is it possible to convert the parking brake to a standard type that activates the main rear disc brakes? Perhaps using the setup from a different 8.25 that has discs.
All the disc brake 8.25's use the internal parking brake setup.You do not want the integrated parking brake calipers,there weak,junk,and require that stupid tool to push the piston back into the bore when new pads are put on.
