p0037 & p0038 - Battery? UPDATED

So, I've been stretching my original battery out. If the KJ sat for a day, it would crank a litttle slow. Headlights would really dim when a test cranked the engine, etc... When it finally set for 2 days, no startee. I replaced the battery today.

About a week ago, my engine light came on. It is showing p0037 & p0038, which are high & low voltage for the driver's side second O2 sensor. Mileage may have slipped a bit, might be a little blackness in the tailpipe. Nothing major for either.

What are the odds that the bad battery made the O2 sensor throw those codes, and the new battery will correct it?

I replaced the battery, but the light is still on. But I think that it is better know, even though the light is still on & the codes present. It "feels" better if that makes any sense.

The light will be on until the engine completes enough faultless cycles, then it will turn itself off.

They TELL you it is puppy, but unless they leave a paw attached I always think it is just old worn out ****** dog or something.

Reset the codes and see if they come back. May just be a bad 02 sensor.

And I really like Interstate. Got 3 marine interstate batteries on a boat and so far theyve done great. Also have two optima red tops and they seem to be doing good.

they do? i have 10 lights and 850 watts being drawn on mine alot. holds up alot better than the stock one. you should check that alternator.

Not from my KJ, so nothing wrong with my alternator.

The minivan i had went through two of them, one lasted six months and had a shorted cell, was replaced under warranty, then the next one died about a year later and they wouldn't replace it, said i needed to purchase the extra warranty or some crap, i tossed it into the rack of batteries at the store and busted three of them in a fit of rage, they didn't do nothing, just sat there and took it in the u know what...

Then the interstate battery in my mother in laws van died when they were visiting this summer, stranded everyone.

When i lived on the farm we bought Interstate batteries like alkaline batteries, if they last a season we were lucky!!
