How bad was it to replace the motor mounts? Have an '05 3.7 4x4 and I'm reviving this thread from the dead as I'm getting almost identical symptoms and have tried almost identical steps. Confirmed all the things and took a peak at my motor mounts and can see that as least one is definitely in need of replacement.

This is my first post/response. If one is known bad, I would recommend replace all mounts including the transmission mount while you are there doing it. Who wants to do this twice?

To my recollection, LH mount was slightly more difficult than RH, for the fact that I was changing them as the Jeep was on the ground. Mine is an 06 CRD, however motor mounts are motor mounts.

Results are virtually instantaneous once new mounts are in place. I dont know about the V-6, but a common teltale sign that the mounts need changed on the CRD is when the transmission dipstick pops out of the sleeve on its own.

In terms of difficulty depending upon what kind of mechanic you are, I would give it a 5-6 if working on the ground. It is a 3-4 if you have a lift. Good Luck
