When my 2004 Jeep Liberty hit exactly 59,000 miles, the odometer started making strange "ticking" sounds. It then seemed like forever for the odometer to turn over to 59,001 miles and then to 59,002 miles.
I zeroed-out the trip-meter and, when it reached 1.0 mile, I switched to the odometer. It now read 59,003 miles and the “ticking” sound went away.
I repeated the process and, each time the trip-meter hit a new mile, the odometer did too.
Is the "ticking sound" anything to be concerned about?
