I agree with boboborino. Find a decent bluetooth ODB adapter and use Torque. The light version of Torque is ok for basic info and code clearing (with a decent widget style layout) and the full version is about $5 (if you feel you need it)

Ditto to both HalfTheWorld and boboborino..... Decent ELM 2.1 OBD II bluetooth adapter and buy the Torque Pro app. Display on you phone or tablet, etc. The guage layout can be customized and guages can be added or removed on screen. Very cheap way to get a ton of info.
