Hi guys, just saw that section so decided to step in.

First about me:

I am a 31yo man, I'm living halfway between Montreal and Quebec City, on St-Lawrence river North shore. Like most people in Quebec outside Montreal, my first language is French. I worked in telecom/IT for the last 11 years. As my pseudo mentions it, I am kinda of a geek (linux, raspberry pi, hardware hacking DIY and more) and an avid angler and future small game hunter (passing licenses next Feb 13-14th)

I fished for trout since childhood but started fishing for smallmouth bass last season and became addicted. I usually fish in kayak, I own two (10ft and 12ft) the 10ft being a DIYer mostly, can show some pics/how to if interested.

And now 'bout what's interesting, the rig:

I recently bought my first Jeep a few weeks ago.

It's a Liberty 2003 Sport, 4WD with 3.7L. It has 146000km (around 91k miles for my southern neigbors)

It came with the factory Tow pkg, off-road package and a 3.73 Trac-Lok rear diff with the Command-Trac 4WD system.

This won't be my daily driver as I already own a subcompact car for everyday commuting. I also own an Artic Cat TRV 700 '08 4wheeler.

Should be used next Spring for fishing trips which will involve light/moderate trail usage and next Fall for hunting trips.

Welcome and congrats on your Jeep. We have some other Canadians here too and they will probably chime in also.

A Big Welcome from the west coast of Canada Tom!
I spent quite a bit of fun times years ago, on the S.Shore of Montreal.
Too cold in winter, so I moved west into the rain..ha ha..
I remember fishing for small mouth's .. butter, lemon, seasoning..mmmm..tasty!
Enjoy your KJ 4x4 good vehicle and post a few pics when you can!
What mods do have in mind for it?

You should have stayed, it rained yesterday with +4C ;) all that froze overnight and this morning skating ring everywhere ;)

There are not really mods but "enhancements"

  • BFGoodrich A/T KO2 235/70/R16 (came with 215/75/R16) so around ¼" taller and ¾ larger
  • Metra 2DIN dash kit for the HU w/ harness and antenna wires
  • Android 4.4 7" 1024x600 head unit w/ BT, WIFI, USB etc
  • Bluetooth ELM327 v2.1 to pair with the HU
  • Cobra 19DXIV CB Radio (smallest unit I could find 1.75x4.5)
  • Dual Flushmount USB ports since HU has back ports only so will reroute them cleanly in the Metra smaller cubby

What's planned but not done yet:
  • Rocker panel replacement and some touch-ups. I'd like to fix a bubble close to the back window as well but it's in a rounded shape so might be hard.
  • Spark plugs/Wire replacement
  • Roof rack (not fixed on DIY or Sportrack yet)
